Senior Event Producer

Senior Event Producer

Events Management

You’re a certain kind of adrenaline junky. The kind who sometimes wonders if your genetic code was sequenced precisely to handle the rush of live events. In the eye of a raging storm, you’re cool as ice. And nothing makes your soul sing like delivering the flawless performance of a minute-by-minute cue sheet.

You have the rare ability to see the world through multiple lenses – a dreamer with the vision and know-how to bring your ideas to life. Analytical and results-driven, you value careful post-event analysis, but you know how to celebrate success. As a natural relationship builder, you appreciate the support of a strong team and ensure that every person plays their part seamlessly.

Our team seeks a dynamic leader like you to come stir up some excitement. As an event producer on our team, you’ll develop and execute an ever-changing lineup of meetings, conferences and special events to support our educational mission. If you are an entrepreneurial-minded self-starter, excited about applying your passion and project management experience to help us advance the ideas of a free and open society where all can flourish, apply now!

Your responsibilities include:
• Managing a portfolio of events for a department or working group and providing strategic direction and creative ideas to improve the quality of each event
• Supervising, coaching, and inspiring a team of event planners
• Planning meetings, conferences and special events (including researching and selecting venues; coordinating with vendors; managing contracts; developing budgets and production timelines)
• Executing and evaluating events (including communicating with attendees, hosting VIPs and writing post-event reports)
• Helping to develop and maintain standard operating procedures for events to help the Institute maintain a high level of service and event quality
• Contributing to the development and training of junior staff

Required knowledge and skills you bring to the team:
• 5+ years of relevant experience working in event or meeting planning, hospitality or related field
• Previous management experience is desired
• CMP designation a plus, a commitment to achieving designation desired
• Ability and interest to travel as needed
• Strong customer service focus
• Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to change
• Ability to work on multiple projects at once and keep track of multiple priorities
• Entrepreneurial spirit, humility, high sense of urgency and a passion for advancing free and open societies
• Capacity to work flexible hours and limited weekends
