Letter from Charles Koch Foundation and Charles Koch Institute on COVID-19 Pandemic

Dear Friends and Partners of the Charles Koch Foundation and Charles Koch Institute,

Today we stand together with everyone in this country and around the world to do all we can to support one another and prevent the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. In the midst of this unprecedented time, we want to express our uncompromising commitment to the health and well-being of our staff, partners, and program participants.

Both of our organizations are open and prepared to continue our work through this crisis. Now, more than ever, the country needs organizations like yours and ours, focused on removing barriers that prevent Americans from realizing their potential. Like most of you, our teams are working from home. As a funder and partner, we understand that in the coming days and weeks, you will be faced with difficult decisions that may require adjusting priorities as you grapple with the uncertainty this crisis poses to your organization, staff, and the communities you serve. We are committed to helping you do so and want to be a resource to you as you work through these challenges. Please connect with your CKF or CKI point of contact if we can be helpful.

Challenging times can also bring out the best in people. As an example, one of our partners has shown great agility in leveraging their capabilities to help ensure that parents, students, and educators have access to world-class educational resources when tens of millions of students are unexpectedly home.  You can learn more by visiting their Facebook group, “Learn Everywhere.” This is just one of the many ways our partners are rising to the occasion in this moment of crisis and uncertainty.

The work you do to identify bold, new approaches to solving our country’s most pressing problems is as critical now as it has ever been. We invite you to share ideas for how your organization and community are engaged on this issue to ensure all people can realize their potential.

Sincerely,

Brian HooksRyan StowersDerek Johnson
